BDI Group Code of Conduct
When becoming a member of Berkshire Driving Instructors it is expected that all members will abide by the following code. Please bear in mind that the BDI is a not-for-profit organisation and is run by volunteers who receive no remuneration for their efforts
Respect Others
We are all in this together to create a welcoming environment for everyone. Let’s treat everyone with respect. Healthy debates are natural but keep it friendly and polite.
Make sure that everyone feels safe. Hate speech or bullying of any kind is not permitted, and degrading comments about race, religion, culture, sexual orientation, gender or identity will not be tolerated.
No promotions or Spam
Give more to the groups then you take. Self-promotion and spam and irrelevant links are not allowed. If you persist you will be removed from the BDI. If you would like to send or post something non driving related, email it to committee first at bdicommittee@gmail.com, and we will let you know if it is okay to send it on.
Respect everyone’s privacy
Being part of the BDI requires mutual trust. Authentic expressive discussions make the groups great but also may be sensitive and private. What’s shared in the group, should stay in the group.
The BDI has several social media groups: –
The Gmail group is the only one where all BDI members chose to join.
This is ideal for contacting other members for help and advice, as well as telling you about upcoming meetings.
There are three WhatsApp groups.
- BDI Traffic and Test alerts. This is only to be used to inform members of current or upcoming issues with traffic or current issues with driving tests in the local area. We politely ask members not to reply to any messages posted on here. It is for information only not discussions. Replies will be deleted.
- Test Swap Requests. This is exclusively for BDI members to ask for test swaps. We consider this a safe place for our members to arrange this. Please ensure any information shared on here complies with Data Protection and the privacy of the person you are arranging a swap for. No replies are allowed on this board, these will be deleted, and you may not be informed. If you wish to speak with the person asking for a swap you must reply directly to that member.
- BDI Chats and Banter This is for general chat. Please try to keep this to Driving Instructor and other relevant subjects.
The BDI Facebook group is for similar matters like the WhatsApp Banter group.
In addition to the above, it is a condition of membership that members must agree to abide by the DVSA Code of Practice
BDI planning, amendments, policy and process reviews
The BDI committee members will meet periodically to plan future events and discuss the ongoing management of the group. We strongly encourage members to provide feedback and make suggestions whenever they wish. We will also occasionally seek our member’s feedback. Any changes will be discussed and voted on by the committee and the majority decision will be carried. In the event of a hung vote the Chair Person will have the final deciding vote.
Should a member fail to abide by the above code the committee have the right to remove the member.
