Test Centre Waiting Room Opening

Good news! The proposed date for the waiting room opening could be the 18th Dec. The rules will be:

• ADI’s wait with candidate at car till the examiner arrives for sign up, then they can go into waiting room.
• Use hand sanitiser provided on entry to waiting room.
• Scan into DTC using QR code if no phone complete sign in slip and place in envelope provided for Track and Trace.
• All touch points in waiting room cleaned using wipes provided, then place them in the bin provided for PPE only.
• Face masks must be worn at all times.
• Maximum occupancy 10.
• No food or drink allowed whatsoever.
• Toilet facilities are for accompanying drivers and ADI’s with someone on Test.
• Stay socially distanced at all times.

Self-Employment Income Support Scheme (SEISS) Grant Extension: Third grant available soon

The UK government has extended the support available under the Self-Employment Income Support Scheme (SEISS) for self-employed people affected by coronavirus (COVID-19). The latest grant will cover from November to the end of January.

The rules on who is eligible to claim have changed. However, you still need to have submitted a Self Assessment tax return for the tax year 2018 to 2019 showing self-employment income in order to claim.
To check if you’re eligible and find out how to claim, please go to GOV.UK and search for ‘Self employment income support scheme’.
If you’re eligible, and in need of support, you’ll be able to claim the third grant at any time from 2 December until the end of January.

Getting help with your claim

Claiming is simple – you don’t need to work out your grant, HMRC will do that for you. It’s important that you make any claim yourself, although you can ask an accountant or tax agent to help you. Please don’t pass on any of your information to people who offer to make a claim on your behalf. That will lead to delays in your payment.

Stay vigilant about scams, which may mimic government messages to make them seem authentic. Search ‘scams’ on GOV.UK for information on how to recognise genuine HMRC contact. You can also forward suspicious emails claiming to be from HMRC to phishing@hmrc.gov.uk and texts to 60599.
